Intakes in Australia

Australia generally has two intakes in a year.

  • Intake 1: It commences in February and is the major intake.
  • Intake 2: It commences in July. 

However, few universities offer multiple intakes, even in September and November. Hence, starting your admission process around six months before the application deadline is highly advisable.

 

  • Bachelor's Programs:

    • Duration: 3-4 years
    • Intake Months: February, July (Major), November (Minor)
    • Application Deadline: 4-6 months before intake
  • Master's Programs (MS/MBA):

    • Duration: 1.5-2 years
    • Intake Months: February, July (Major), November (Minor)

 

Requirements to Apply for an Australian Student Visa

  • Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE):

    • Obtain a CoE from a registered Australian educational institution.
  • Proof of Financial Capacity:

    • Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs.
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement:

    • Provide a statement proving your intention to stay in Australia temporarily for study purposes.
  • English Language Proficiency:

    • Provide evidence of English proficiency through tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE.
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC):

    • Purchase OSHC to cover your medical expenses during your stay in Australia.
  • Health and Character Requirements:

    • Undergo a health examination and provide a police clearance certificate if required.
  • Valid Passport:

    • Ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay in Australia.
  • Visa Application Fee:

    • Pay the required student visa application fee.

 

Australian Student Visa Fees

When applying for an Australian student visa, it's important to be aware of the associated costs:

  • Student Visa (Subclass 500): Base application fee is AUD 650, with additional charges of AUD 485 per extra applicant and AUD 160 for applicants under 18. A subsequent temporary application charge of AUD 700 applies.
  • Subclass 500 (Subsequent Entrant): The same fee structure as above.
  • Postgraduate Research Sector: A flat fee of AUD 650.
  • Student Guardian (Subclass 590): Base fee of AUD 650, with a subsequent temporary application charge of AUD 700.

Proof of Funds

To study in Australia, you must demonstrate financial capacity. The requirements are as follows:

  • Primary Applicant: AUD 24,505 (before 10 May 2024), increasing to AUD 29,710 (after 10 May 2024).
  • Spouse : AUD 8,574, rising to AUD 10,394.
  • Dependent Child: AUD 3,670, increasing to AUD 4,449.
  • Annual School Costs: AUD 9,661, rising to AUD 13,502.
  • Personal Annual Income (no family): AUD 72,465, increasing to AUD 87,856.
  • Personal Annual Income (with family): AUD 84,543, increasing to AUD 102,500.
